How we use and protect your data
Can I be confident that my information is protected?
Our patients' trust means everything for Kry. We know that our patients have high expectations on quality of care as well as data privacy, and we want our patients to always feel confident that their information is handled in a responsible, secure and lawful manner. Protecting our patients' integrity will therefore always be a key priority for us, in order to maintain patients’ trust and to be able to continue delivering the best possible healthcare to more patients.
How does Kry protect the information I share with healthcare professionals?
All healthcare professionals are bound by professional secrecy and are trained in how to handle patient information, and high standards on use of personal data and the security are applied across our systems and business. Your information is protected from unauthorised access by internal access control processes and systems that monitor and prevent threats to our technical infrastructure. Data is stored in security certified data centres in the EU. Video calls are protected by strong encryption in transit and at rest. Video (image and sound) is not stored.
How is information I share with healthcare professionals used?
Information you provide us - prior to, during or which is generated as a result of your consultation (notes, referrals, sick notes, etc.) is stored in Kry's systems, including in your medical record. The information is used primarily to provide you with the best possible treatment and for related purposes such as care administration, follow-up care, to generate statistics, and to ensure the quality and development of the health care we provide. You can find more detailed information on how we use your information in our privacy notice.
What is Kry’s approach to new technology?
Kry believes that use of new technology, such as AI is critical in order for us to continue meeting our patients’ expectations on quality and availability. Kry is for example using AI based technology to provide better tools for our staff aiming to decrease their administrative workload and to minimize waiting times.
By way of example, Kry makes available a digital assistant based on AI which gathers information from patients via a chat aiming to offload nurses who normally are handling such tasks ahead of consultations. The gathered information is always reviewed by healthcare staff, who make all decisions impacting patients, such as diagnosis, prescriptions, referrals, type of treatment and similar. The chat system does not get access to any information other than what the patient is
submitting. All chats are stored in Kry’s systems and are made available to patients via their Kry app inbox.
We also use AI based technology to decrease the amount of time which staff spend on administrative work, so that they can spend more time with the patient. For example, by creating a text file (a transcript) generated from the dialog between the clinician and the patient, which is used to facilitate a number of administrative tasks, including to remind clinicians of tasks discussed with the patient and to propose summaries and notes. All directly identifying information about the patient which the transcript may contain, such as name, national id and phone number, is removed from the transcript before it’s processed by the AI system. The transcript is stored in Kry’s system for a week after the consultation for quality assurance purposes.
As with all technology used by Kry, we take a number of legal and security measures before starting to use AI based technology. This includes reviews of technology suppliers, instructions for systems, tests and risk assessments around security and medical quality. Following implementation of the system, it’s carefully monitored to ensure it meets expectations and standards on performance, availability and confidentiality, and to enable detection and resolution of problems.
Suppliers of AI technology are not allowed to use patient information as required to deliver their system and cannot use it to train their or otherwise improve their systems, for marketing or for similar purposes.
